How do I know if I'm eligible to ride a Baroni EFV?

UK Law

To comply with UK legislation all motorcycles using the public highway must be registered.

You will require a valid driving licence (provisional or full). If provisional you will also need a CBT (compulsory basic training) certificate and your Baroni must be insured.

For further information visit www.dvla.gov.uk/welcome.htm or call our helpline on 0845 222 7664.

Bailiwick of Guernsey Law

New Drivers/Riders

If you are 14 years+ and taking to the road for the first time then the first step is to apply for your Provisional Driving Licence.

Motorcyclists holding a provisional licence in category P, must not ride on a public highway unless they have successfully completed a training course for motorcyclists by an approved examiner (Compulsory Basic Training or C.B.T.) and have been issued with a certificate of competency.

For more information on C.B.T. in the Bailiwick please visit http://brianmartel.com/bikegsy/licencetypes.html

Existing Drivers/Riders

Full Guernsey Driving Licence holders can ride a Baroni EFV without L-Plates and carry a passenger as both models are in the P category.

How do I register my Baroni EFV?

UK Law

In the UK mainland your EFV will be delivered with full registration and vehicle licence. There is no Vehicle Excise Duty to pay on Baroni EFVs but the tax disc must still be displayed. Full details of the procedure will be explained once your order is complete.

Bailiwick of Guernsey

When you purchase a new Baroni EFV, there will be a ‘Welcome Pack’ included together with a completed 267 DVLA vehicle registration form. Take this form to your licencing office and the appropriate paperwork will be completed to make your new motorcycle road legal.

do I need to wear a helmet?

For safety reasons we always advise the use of a helmet.

Gloves, outdoor jacket, trousers and shoes will provide protection and keep you warm. Even on warm days hands will get cold at 35mph.

Is it easy to recharge a baroni efv?

Yes, it is very easy. Simply insert the plug of the battery charger into any regular wall outlet and the output plug into the inlet within the lockable seat compartment. This will start the recharge process.

You can use any conventional 13 Amp socket to charge your Baroni. If you wish to use an outdoor socket use an RCD protected socket with weatherproof casing.

Battery charging takes 6-8 hours for a complete charge (zero - full).

what is the lifespan and cost of the batteries?

Battery life is dependant on the type of journey and how well you maintain your motorcycle. The battery's lifecycle will be reduced or damaged if an insufficient charge level is retained for a long period of time.

Charge as regularly as possible - you don't have to wait until you've drained the charge - and you'll see the benefit in longer battery life. Typically, our sealed silicone/lead acid batteries last from 400 to 1000 charge cycles.

The Baroni EFV150 has 4 batteries connected in series. Each individual battery costs £25 to replace.

The Baroni EFV200 has 5 batteries connected in series, with an individual cost of £20.

what about maintenance?

The Baroni is designed for minimum maintenance. Consider the fact that there is no combustion engine, no transmission, no belts, no chains, no petrol, no lubricants, no ignition plugs and no carburettor.

Practically any mechanic can carry out the little maintenance that may be required.

what can i do to keep my baroni efv secure?

  • Always remove the key when you park.
  • Always apply the steering lock when leaving the motorcycle.
    Park somewhere visible.
  • Invest in a D-lock, a disc lock or an armoured chain.
  • Nearly half of all thefts take place outside the home, so remember to secure your Baroni EFV whenever you leave it unattended.
  • If you park your Baroni in a garage, consider securing it to a ground anchor.
  • If you are securing your motorcycle to 'street furniture', make sure your chain cannot be looped over the top.
